Terms of use

Last updated 2026-09-16

By using OrthoMeasure, you agree to the terms below. Read the medical disclaimer alongside this page — it explains in plain language what these tools are for.

1. What this site is

OrthoMeasure publishes calculators and reference material for orthopedic outcome measures, classification systems, and clinical decision rules, for use by clinicians, researchers, and patients. It is an informational and educational resource. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and does not create a clinician-patient relationship between you and OrthoMeasure.

2. Not medical advice

Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation. Every calculated score, band, or threshold is a report of a published measure — it supports a clinician’s judgement and does not substitute for it. If you are a patient, discuss any result with a qualified healthcare professional before acting on it.

In an emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately rather than using this site.

3. Accuracy and no warranty

We take reasonable care to implement each scoring formula correctly and to cite published thresholds accurately — our editorial methodology describes how. Even so, this site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the content is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OrthoMeasure and its contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or its content, including any clinical, financial, or other decision made on the basis of a result shown here.

4. Instrument copyright

The outcome measures, classification systems, and decision rules described on this site are the intellectual property of their original developers. Where an instrument is freely reproducible, we reproduce it in full; where a rights holder operates an active licensing programme, we publish the instrument’s profile and scoring method without reproducing its copyrighted item text, and we link to the rights holder. The instrument licensing page states the position for every instrument on the site. That page reflects our own research and is not legal advice — confirm independently before any commercial, research, or for-profit use of a given instrument.

5. Our own content

The site’s own text, design, and software — as distinct from the underlying published instruments and their scoring formulae, which are attributed to their original sources — belong to OrthoMeasure. You may link to any page on this site freely. Reproducing substantial portions of our own written content elsewhere requires our written permission; contact us at contact@orthomeasure.com.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use this site to misrepresent a calculated result as an official diagnosis, to automate mass scraping of the site in a way that degrades it for other users, or to violate any applicable law. We may restrict access for use that is abusive or that interferes with the service for others.

7. Third-party links

Pages on this site link to external sources — journal publishers, PubMed, and instrument rights holders among them. We do not control and are not responsible for the content or practices of those external sites.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless local law requires otherwise.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to contact@orthomeasure.com.
